About the Designer
With the elegance she developed as a professional ballet dancer and a unique style sensibility from her Bay Area upbringing, Karen Nepacena designs bags that are a vibrant combination of her influences. Each handbag is named after a woman who has inspired her at some point in life, their distinct personalities communicated through uncommon textiles and bold color palettes.
Karen learned the basics of sewing from her mother, Lita, after retiring from dance and studying business at Northeastern University in Boston. Simple designs evolved into more elaborate creations, and eventually, the bags gained boutique presence in the Boston area.
Now based in San Francisco, the Nepacena line continues to evolve as Karen creates fresh designs that merge sophistication with spontaneity.

Since Karen's first design, she has named each handbag after a woman who has inspired her through life. Karen and her husband recently welcomed their first child, Sebastian, resulting in the new Sebastian Diaper Tote!
